I always wondered how these 'buy gold' kind of companies made gobs of money.

Plus, do people think it will be handy to have a stack of solid gold coins in a collapsed economy some day? Havent they read 'The Road'?

I invest in precious metals. I have a huge stockpile of lead and brass.

Deconstructing all of that is the easy part.  The hard part is figuring out if people who watch Glenn Beck deserve a wake-up call...

Anyone who falls for Glenn Beck's shtick deserves whatever happens to them. Think of it as natural selection.

an agricultural index fund would be a better hedge

All your eggs in one basket is never a good idea. Most of my stuff comes from Goldline, I also have some in gold funds, as well as mutals and fortune 500's.

It's nice to have actual, clinky clinky real value metal though.

Quality of the coin is important too. The "melt value" of a beat to shit Morgan silver dollar is the same as an A+ quality, never circulated, Morgan silver.. but the new one will get you much more from a coin dealer.

And you're being overcharged by Goldline because you're in queue with all the wet-behind-the-ears suckers.  If you know enough about the coins, it's better to navigate the dealers yourself, and fuck Goldline.

Not really, because I pay attention to market prices vs what GoldLine is selling for, and only buy when it's a good deal.

That, plus GoldLine buys back at what you paid.. which is handy, and, I notice, missing from the graph above.

I can sell my Roosters or Liberties back to them, for what I paid for them, any time I want.

If you're gonna do the gold thing, do it right.

and yes, I blurred out the serial numbers.

You should trade that for some stock in Nintendo or Apple

Actually I sold most of it at the beginning of the month when the price peaked.

Shiny things won't be very useful when the collapse comes.

If the economy collapses in the USA, bullets will be the main trading commodity....

Me? I bought 10K in Microsoft in 1978....so bite me.

This will be the thing that will undo the late great Glenn Beck,,,,,
