Oglaf "Ads"

Oglaf's been great, but the fake ads at the bottom of the comic are often good, too.

Empowered Vol. 6

This started off as soft-core porn one-off scribblings, and has evolved into one of the better comics out there. Volume 6 is on shelves next week.

Beer Can/Beer Bottle Openers

Got these from stuff my grandfather left behind when he died. No one wanted them, but a couple have local relevance and they're all pretty cool, as well as functional (provided the rust gets removed, eventually).
This is the small collection, en masse:
This one's "Nifty", and it really is - bottle opener, can opener, and cork puller all in one. Shame the small tip is almost broken off:
This one is a nameless cork puller; I like it because it's nice and compact, perfect for the wino on the go:
Shame it's completely rusted over. I'll try to clean it up sometime along with the others.
This one is for the Genesee Beer drinkers out there in Central New York. Visit Auburn some time and see the brewery:
Now this one's got a bit of history: the Hanley Ale opener. Hanley was based in Providence, RI under a variety of different names and locations from the late 1800's until at least the late 1950's. You can Google some info on it; sorry about the rust:
One of the Classic Blunders

Like many a nerd/geek/whatever, I do enjoy my Princess Bride.
Batman: Under the Red Hood

Just watched it today. Possibly the best animated entry in the DC oeuvre to date, and outshines all the live action movies prior to Batman Begins (which, admittedly, isn't very tough). The trailer falls very short of the movie.
Rodney Carrington - Today's The Day My Wife Met My Girlfriend

An oldie but a goodie.
WTF WHERE'S MY QC???!!

I looked at Questionable Content just fine last night, so what the fuck is this shit when I go to look at it this morning? What happened, Jeph?!
There. That should more than fulfill my drama requirements for the week.
Iron Man - Hypervelocity

One of the best standard superhero comics I've read in quite a while. Which is not surprising, as it was done by Adam Warren, who among other things is the power behind Empowered. This page is from the last issue of the miniseries; I love it for the major's reaction to having part of his hand blown off.

I think I should be kicking myself; I believe I could have gotten in on the Adam Warren ground floor with his Dirty Pair adaptation, but at the time I was an anime/manga snob and dismissed his work as inferior Western crapola. Live and learn, I guess. At least I'm all caught up with Empowered.
Happy Independence Day, Ghettoians!

...or at least, those SGers who observe such. I'm off to visit the in-laws; I shall return with pictures of sewing machine tables as promised in a now-long-forgotten post weeks ago. Yeah, it's a thrill a minute here in the Calumny household, and I'm sure you all can't wait to drop trou and start fapping/slitching to OC sewing machine pr0n.
Don't bother telling me how empty my life is; it should be self-evident from the above.
Functional LEGO AK-47

Some texty stuff about the gun here; and video of the operating item here:
Wasteland - second and final entry

So this is the second story from Wasteland that really sunk it's hooks in me. It's from issue #3, and oddly enough, also stars a couple of cops.

Wastelands - first entry

Wasteland was a horror-anthology comic published by DC Comics in 1987-88. It wasn't your typical horror comic; I recommend the short but succinct Wikipedia article about it to understand how it was different. But the first story in the first issue is what sold me on it, back in the day.
