I cant help but wonder if the Israelis have the wrong intentions in mind doing this prisoner swap.  What I mean is that most Muslim countries don't have the best history of keeping prisoners alive, or telling the truth.

On one hand, he might be alive, and in that case they would be sending hundreds of dangerous people loose.  One could see how this in time would mean more violence against Israel.  In which, since the balance is at yet another tipping point again, Israel could say "you know what fuck you" and crush everyone.  Because everybody knows Israel has the power to do so, and they have been a lion poked by a stick for way too long.

But on the other hand he could be dead.  This would be horrible.  Israel would have more of an excuse to escalate the violence.

Either way, I don't see this be the start of a peaceful middle east.
