more oc burgles

I wanted to post them all as larger photos, but I don't want to break anyone's internet so I just chose two. If that still is too much, let me know. I can put the smaller versions of them up instead, but I like all the little hairs and stuff you can see in the larger versions.

haha you would say that. I have a Canon EOS Rebel XT, my boyfriend gave it to me to play with until I decide to drop real money on a camera. I use a 50mm f 2.5 lens, though I just got a macro extension tube for it to play around until this becomes available: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-USA/Canon_4657A... use a trigger flash type thing too. Nothing fancy, I'm pretty much learning all of it as I go.

Pretty damn good for a 50mm w/a tube missy....
If you get that lens you will be shocked at the DOF, it will turn you into a lens junkie.
I've got about 6K in Nikon lenses, most of which I never use any more...but I can't bring myself to sell or trade them.

That is what is holding me back, really. 600 bucks for a new lens is going to turn into several thousand once I open that door. I'm telling myself now that I'm not going to get it until I get really really good at this, but OH GOD THINK OF THE TINY CREATURE HAIRS I'M MISSING

LoL it really is all in the lens..and the faster the better!

Some of my lenses paid me back. My 90mm with flash setup (E-Bay product shots and some medical/scientific) and my wide angle (real estate interiors)...

perhaps someday there will be a market for adorable spider photos....

Really impressive shots for your current equipment! Great color saturation. Hold off on getting a new body if that's what you were thinking. The Rebels are exactly the same as their EOS counterparts, just with different software loaded. There's a site that tells you how to flash the firmware and get the EOS software. I just can't remember what it is right now... I'll get back to you on that.

I remember seeing the third one! These are fantastic.

I can't help but imagine cooter as a very, very, very small person taking these photos.

I have them all here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/83970497@N04/ Maybe that is where you saw it? Also, I laughed. I am short, just not that short :3

Fantastic!
I have some really dodgy pictures of bugs too, I am no photogramapher but I scored an Olympus Pen cheap...I dunno if its me but I cant get the macro function on it to work for shit...so much that I went back to using my teeny Ricoch instant, which seemed to be better at small things.
Any tips?
cooter's picture

I don't use the macro function. I put it in manual, change the settings myself and rely on the lens to do it's job. Putting the iso to 100 or 200 and using my flash for light helps a lot too.

these are fantastic--they're all coming out great!
