A one-of-a-kind 2013 Ford GT500 Shelby Cobra built as a tribute to the late Carroll Shelby has hit the road after being unveiled at the recent Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, where Cobra was the featured marque. The car features a specially designed hood, new rear wide-body kit, and is painted Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White stripes—a combination popular with Cobra roadsters built in the 1960s. Power comes from a souped-up version of the stock, 662 hp engine in the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that now produces 850 hp thanks to a Ford Racing 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger. For traction and stopping power, the unique Shelby has 20x13-inch rear and 20x10-inch front wheels and Shelby Wilwood brakes.

The one-of-a-kind tribute car was built by “Friends of Carroll Shelby,” including Ford Racing and Shelby American, among many others. It will tour the country for the next year and “and hopefully will be used in a special way at the end of its tour,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s group vice president for sales and marketing, noting Carroll Shelby’s efforts as a philanthropist.
Carroll Shelby died at age 89 earlier this year.

Eh? It should have had a turbo-charged Dodge mill, after all a full half of his magnificent creations were of the Penta-Star type brand. Hell, the old man created the Fast-n-Furious phenomena with the GLH & GLHS vehicles.
I still have one of the original magazine adds for the GLHS Charger, priceless!
The world is sadder with his passing...
Thanks for sharing.
