So this guy in my apartment building stumbled up the steps and fell into the window to the door from the mail room. His left arm went straight through, leaving two lacerations: one near his wrist that was about 4 inches and another in his bicep/triceps area that was very deep (we're talking muscles and fat hanging out, bone could be seen) and about 8 or 9 inches long. He was also with his daughter, she fortunately got away with only a minor cut on her forehead. He cut an artery and was bleeding sitting at the top of the stairs and then passed out. I got on the horn with 911, my gf ran and got me gloves and another person got a towel to put pressure on the wrist wound. I got off the phone and told that person they were doing it wrong because the larger upper arm cut was just flowing blood all over his body and she was letting it just hang there. I intervened and held this dude's arm upright while putting as much pressure as I could on the larger wound while the other person continued to apply pressure to the wrist. The blood soaked through two heavy towels and down my legs. He was passing in and out of consciousness and I tried to ask him answer-specific questions to keep him awake. The paramedics arrived about 5 minutes later and carted him off. While all this was going on, my fucking useless neighbor was heckling the paramedics asking why it took so long and why they weren't looking at the little girl who was totally fine. I've never seen a bystander in an emergency situation act more inappropriate than her. Anyways, here's the few pics I could muster up after they carted him off to the hospital.
