the book I'm reading atm

some images I found that relates to certain pages of the book, the first being the fight and eventual takeover of Singapore by the Japanese, where Rohan Rivett was during February 1942.

Rivett escaped from Singapore but his boat was bombed near Sumatra. He escaped on foot with others, and went through the Sunda Strait where the Japanese sunk the HMAS Perth, USS Huston, HMS Exeter and many other ships.

The Rivett and his group were eventually captured by natives and handed over to the Japanese and were taken to Javanese prison.

From Tanjung Priok (below) a harbour area of north Jakarta, they were loaded into the holds of cargo hulks on a long, slow dangerous passage first back to Singapore for a stay in the infamous Changi Prison (below), then on to Moulmein in Burma, then a forced march to Thanbyuzayat the start of the Burma Siam Railway, they were to labour on.

If you can imagine running 10k's in your favourite and very old sneakers, on a really hot day, then taking off your soggy socks and chucking them in the wardrobe for a couple of weeks, then putting a wet and skanky goat in the cupboard with the socks, then ... that would be getting to what this cheese actually tasted like.
